Speakers
We are thrilled to present our distinguished speakers, renowned experts in air pollution and its health effects, leading the way with their extensive knowledge and inspiring insights. Learn more about their groundbreaking research and expertise in tackling environmental challenges below, and feel free to reach out for further information.
Richard Peltier
Professor at Institute for Global Health, University of Massachusetts Amherst
Dr. Peltier is interested in investigating the chemical and physical components of air pollution that are found throughout the world, and identifying which parts are most causative to the global deaths. As an atm ospheric chemist, he investigates this complexity with sound measurements that are consistent with gold standard approaches. As a practicing environmental health scientist, he uses this information to inform policy that is protective of human health.
Shih-Chun Candice Lung
Research Fellow and Deputy Director at Research Center for Environmental Changes, Academia Sinica
Dr. Candice Lung has extensive experience studying PM2.5 and heat-stress exposures for over 20 years. Her research focuses on the sources and characteristics of these environmental exposures, which have severe health impacts. PM2.5, a human carcinogen, can penetrate deep into the lungs and is composed of complex substances, including carcinogenic polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).
Ming-Chien Mark Tsou
Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Research Center for Environmental Changes, Academia Sinica
Dr. Mark Tsou specializes in assessing air pollution exposures and their sources in local communities, with a focus on evaluating potential health risks and providing policy recommendations to reduce exposure risks for the public. His recent research has investigated the impact of PM2.5 exposure on heart rate variability among different populations in Taiwan.
